Atticus Family Law, S. C. Annual Scholarship

Atticus Family Law, S. C. strongly believes that people in family law transitions, such as divorces and custody cases, need passionate and invested professionals to call upon who can help make their futures great. Going beyond the short-term family law needs, this includes their long-term needs for therapists, financial planners, accountants, lenders, real estate agents, social workers and others. We placed great value in our own education when we made sacrifices on our paths to college and beyond. We want to help others who intend to enter fields needed by those people and their families who go through family law transitions. This scholarship is awarded based on merit to two students, annually.

In 2021, we are pleased to award this scholarship to two students who are poised to make a lasting impact that assists and benefits families in our communities.

2021 Scholarship Recipients

Mary-Genevieve Moisan

Mary-Genevieve Moisan is a junior at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul, pursuing a degree in Public Health. She has a passion for community and youth; she plans to use her education to provide solutions and support at a population level for families in need.  She believes that supporting people as they become parents and raise children benefits the entire community; it decreases the likelihood that the children will grow up to be incarcerated, abuse substances, or become homeless. Mary-Genevieve plans to pursue a career with a non-profit organization doing policy-based work.

Originally from the east coast, Mary-Genevieve was drawn to Minnesota because of her admiration for the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota and to study at St. Kate’s. She is currently an intern at the Ann Bancroft Foundation, which supports young girls through development activities and mentorship. In her free time, Mary-Genevieve enjoys knitting, rock-climbing, cooking, and wearing vintage fashion.

Congratulations on your award, Mary-Genevieve!

Natividad Herrera

Natividad Herrera is a junior at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul, pursuing a degree in Social Work with a minor in Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity. She has seen firsthand the suffering that occurs when people go unnoticed in their school or community. She hopes to use her education to be an advocate for young people, particularly in diverse communities. Natividad plans to pursue a career working with youth, possibly in a school or with a non-profit organization.

Natividad is actively involved in activities related to this field at school; she participates in the Social Work Club, the Latinx Student Association, and the Student Senate. Receiving this scholarship allows her more freedom to participate in these activities that will undoubtedly benefit her in school and her career. Natividad is also an intern for the non-profit organization 826 MSP, which academically supports underserved K-12 students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs.

Congratulations on your award, Natividad!
