It is advisable for our clients to keep all receipts and billing statements related to health care expenses and to submit these expenses to the other party in a timely manner pursuant to Minnesota Statutes section 518A.41, subdivision 17. Without such documentation, it is unlikely that the client will be able to recoup these expenses. If the client has not kept this documentation, credit card statements or cancelled checks showing payment of the expense and duplicate billing can sometimes be obtained from a medical provider’s billing department or online.
